Hello and Happy St Patrick’s Day KW Peace,
There is an Earthquake Fundraising dinner for Syria and Turkey this Sunday! See details below to book at ticket. Please see the email from Caterina. (Very sadly, I can’t attend this fundraiser as I’ll be away, I hope you can.)
Also, if anyone is free to join me to stand for peace from 1-2pm on Sunday, March 26 to “Stop the Saudi Arms Deal, End the War in Yemen” that would be great, please let me know (+ plus there’s an international call to action: Ground the F-35, Drop the Deal and we can take a picture about that too on Sunday). It’s part of a national weekend of action to raise awareness about the ongoing war and humanitarian need in Yemen Mar 25-27: https://peaceandjusticenetwork.ca/canadastoparmingsaudi2023/
Finally, mark your calendar for March 29 for a lecture “From Occupation to Apartheid: In Discussion with Former UN Special Rapporteur Michael Lynk”
March 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at the BSIA (there are still seats even if it’s says full): https://www.balsillieschool.ca/event/from-occupation-to-apartheid-in-discussion-with-former-un-special-rapporteur-michael-lynk/ (just come!)
Also that night March 29 from 7-9pm Kim Phuc “The Girl in the Photo in Vietnam” will speak at Laurier, more details here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/kim-phuc-lessons-of-life-at-wilfrid-laurier-university-tickets-568660317317
Have a nice weekend,
Tamara

From Caterina Lindman:
I have two requests for you. One is that you consider whether you plan to attend the Earthquake Fundraiser this coming Sunday, and if so, that you reserve your spot. My friend Mo Markham, who is the lead organizer for this event, is hoping to fill the hall, and we are not there yet. She has been working hard to publicise the event, and would really like to have lots of people there to enjoy the food and support the fundraiser. I think that the fundraiser is being well received, and that it will all work out. But I understand her point of view. It has been my experience, when organizing events, that I really appreciate prompt responses from people that they plan to attend, because it helps me feel that the event will be successful.
Here are the details and the link to reserve your spot. Note that reserving your spot is free (tickets are $0 each), and that there is a donate button to contribute to the fundraiser.

My second request is that you read the op-ed I had published today<https://www.thespec.com/opinion/contributors/2023/03/16/cashing-in-on-the-growing-appetite-for-vegan-options.html?rf> in the Waterloo Region Record, the Hamilton Spectator and other Metroland papers. Thanks.
