WEBINAR: "Understanding War over Ukraine"
Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 11:00 am Winnipeg Time; 9:00 am Vancouver time, 1pm ET
Dr. Radhika Desai, Professor Political Science, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg
The Ukraine conflict promises to transform our world fundamentally if it does not destroy it: a little miscalculation on either side it could turn into nuclear third world war. However, our ability to understand this conflict, let alone prevent it from escalating into something world-destroying is compromised by the mainstream Western media that offers propaganda instead of coverage of the conflict. Its reports are racist, hysterical and full of distortions. This leaves us without an understanding of key questions.
1. Did this war start on February 24th or earlier?
2. What are President Putin's aims?
3. What are the roles and motivations of the US, Western Europe and NATO?
4. What is the role of Western sanctions?
5. How can we expect the war to unfold in coming weeks?
Dr. Desai will address these questions and more

WEBINAR & FILM SCREENING: Berta Didn't Die, She Multiplied! World Water Day, Tuesday, March 22 at 7:00pm-9:00pm EDT (GMT-04:00)
The festival finale features Berta Didn't Die, She Multiplied!, a celebration of the life and legacy of Honduran Indigenous, feminist, and environmental activist Berta Cáceres. The film tells the story of the Honduran military coup, the assassination of Berta, and the victory in the Indigenous struggle to protect the Gualcarque River. The insidious agents of the local oligarchy, the World Bank, and North American corporations continue to kill but that will not stop the social movements. From Flint to Standing Rock to Honduras, the water is sacred and the power is in the people. The post-film discussion will feature Jen Moore, Pati Flores, and producer Melissa Cox. This screening is co-sponsored by Mutual Aid Media and Peace Brigades International.

WATCH: "Don't lie like Boris Johnson"
This is from Yurii in Ukraine - please check it out his short YouTube video:
https://youtu.be/qTLmd5og0U0

The UK Prime minister lied three times about the war in Ukraine in the video "FYI Kids Q&A with Boris Johnson," streamed by Sky News. Putin's invasion to Ukraine indeed is evil, but Putin is not a war criminal convicted by the court for perpetrating genocide. Also, the West and Ukraine are not innocent victims who did nothing wrong. Current two-layer conflict between the West and East and between Russia and Ukraine happened in the first place because of the widespread wrong view that good guys should wage just war and kill bad guys. In this video, I explain how lies incite war, describe hardships of war resisters' life in Ukraine under Russian attack, and advocate peace talks instead of shooting.

WATCH: EAT NATO FOR BREAKFAST
Eat NATO For Breakfast #7 we will talk with Sarah Reader and Carrie Hou from Abolish Frontex about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw41JCmo-O0&ab_channel=PeoplesDispatch

The militarized policies of Fortress Europe have killed over 44,764 people since 1993 - drowned in the Mediterranean, shot at borders, death by suicide at detention centers, tortured and killed after being deported. When refugees from NATO wars come to European shores, the EU violates International Law while claiming values of democracy and freedom. This Saturday we will discuss the role of the EU creating wars, chaos and refugees and the links between Frontex and NATO with Carrie & Sarah from Abolish Frontex https://abolishfrontex.org/.
