Hi all: A number of groups under the KWPeace umbrella are putting
together the Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice rally. This is one
event that strikes at the heart of just about every social justice cause
I can think of: Climate change, poverty elimination, indigenous issues
-- all political issues, and all sadly neglected by governments at every
level.

Whatever social justice group has brought you to KWPeace, this event is
for you! Please pass this message on to your group membership, and
encourage everyone to participate!

See you at the rally, and the rally prep!

Subject: Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice rally

I'd like to invite you to join the Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice
Rally. This rally is one of hundreds taking place all over the globe to
show support for effective climate action in advance of the next Global
Climate Action Summit, where countries will decide what needs to be done
to tackle climate change.

What do we mean by effective climate action? Rise Waterloo Region demands:

* Full Transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050 and full support for
workers displaced by our transition away from fossil fuels and the many
jobs this energy transition would provide Waterloo Region and throughout
Canada
* Halting construction on the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion, and any
new fossil fuel infrastructure.
* A rising and meaningful price on carbon pollution, as well as the end
of fossil fuel subsidies at all levels of Canadian government.
* A plan to implement Waterloo Region's goal of an 80% reduction in
carbon emissions by 2050.

Join us on Saturday, September 8th in Waterloo Town Square at 3:00 pm
for art creation and banner making, and at 4:30 - 6:00 pm for a public
rally and talks by local climate leaders, to demand clean energy jobs
and a just transition to our sustainable future.

Together, we can build a more sustainable, safe climate future for all,
powered by clean technologies and built on justice. Join us to Rise for
Climate Action September 8th!
