VEGFEST 2 to 7pm on Saturday, July 27th Waterloo Public Square
KW VegFest is back for its 7th year, with a pop-up event. Everyone welcome!
What is a VegFest? A VegFest is an event that showcases food that tastes good and is good for the planet!
When: 2 to 7pm on Saturday, July 27th
Where: Waterloo Town Square
Our KW VegFest Pop-up will have a delicious diversity of foods from around the world to buy and sample to help everyone see that going plant-based for our health and for the planet's health can be amazing! There will be vendors selling food ... donuts, baklava and other desserts; Turkish, East Indian, Caribbean, and Jamaican food; local microgreens and mushrooms; and free pizza and tempeh, while they last. There will also be free face-painting (2:30 to 5:30), free cheese samples, free raffle prizes throughout the day, and more! Other community groups joining in are the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, the Community Garden Network, and the newly formed Waterloo Region Climate Collaborative. KW VegFest's Pop-up is brought to you by Waterloo Region Climate Initiatives, with assistance from VegGrants and the City of Waterloo.
With such a small window of time left for us to turn things around for the planet, scientists tell us that turning our attention to the food we eat is essential. VegFests across the planet celebrate and promote the benefits of plant-based living for everyone, and for our children's future. This short video explains the connection between environmental sustainability and our food systems.
