Hello KW Peace,

I hope everyone is having a good long weekend.

Four things to bring to your attention if you’d like to help and get involved.

A few of us from the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace & KW Friends of Palestine are meeting at the William Fresh Café, 170 St. University Ave. near the University of Waterloo on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 9:30-10:30 am to talk about events for peace, Gaza etc. if you’d like to join us for a coffee and a conversation.

A few of us are also meeting at the homeless encampment on Monday, Sept. 2 at 10am to bring supplies. I have tents, sleeping bags, pillows, food etc. I’m looking for someone to bring or help fund coffee & donuts. Tim Horton’s Take 12 coffee & a box of 50 tim bits would be a great help if you can bring it or fund it approx. $30.

Walk for Peace & Disarmament

Saturday, September 7, 2024

9:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m.



📍 Location:

Waterloo Public Square: 75 King St S, Waterloo



⏰ Time:

Arrive at 9:30 AM to hear about the purpose of the walk and take group photos. The walk will leave Waterloo Public Square at 10:00 AM (75 King St., Waterloo) and arrive at Kitchener Market (300 King St E, Kitchener) by 11:00 AM, where we will join the Grief Walk for Gaza.



Why are we walking?

✊ For Canada to Sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons – Show leadership for disarmament.

✊ Stop the Genocide in Gaza – Enact a two-way arms embargo against Israel, demand a ceasefire now and Free Palestine!

✊ End the War in Ukraine – Stop sending weapons and support peace negotiations.

✊ No to the COLT Gun Expansion in Kitchener – Build peace not guns.

✊ Invest in a culture of peace and a green economy not war and militarism



Event Description:

We will walk in solidarity with the Nova Scotia Peace Walk, which begins with events in Antigonish on September 7th. Join us to support Canadian Voice of Women for Peace, Science for Peace, WILPF-Canada and Jai Jagat for the Walking Together for Peace initiative happening from September 9th to 21st, International Day of Peace. This peace walk from Pugwash to Halifax, Nova Scotia supports the global abolition of nuclear weapons, calls for Canada to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and to end the wars. There are other peace walks happening in India at the same time.



Together, let’s amplify our voices and unite for global peace and disarmament! We invite everyone to walk with us in the spirit of solidarity!
