Dear friends,

Please note that a *Solidarity Vigil for Peace in Ukraine* will be held
from *4:00-5:00pm* at *Waterloo Public Square*, *75 King St S*, on *Sunday,
March 6.*

This will be part of a Global Day of Action
<https://www.peaceinukraine.org/> in solidarity with people across Canada
and the world saying *no to war and violence*, calling for a *just peace in
Ukraine *and *common security between Russia and the West*. This day of
action was called at a recent online international anti-war meeting
attended by thousands, and organized by CODEPINK <https://www.codepink.org/>
, Stop the War Coalition <https://www.stopwar.org.uk/>, the Campaign for
Nuclear Disarmament <https://cnduk.org/>, and the No to NATO network
<https://www.no-to-nato.org/>. For those who are interested, a recording of
this meeting is available here
<https://www.codepink.org/february_26_2022_international>.

*Additional Details:*

   - This will be a *family-friendly* vigil organized by the Canadian Voice
   of Women for Peace <https://vowpeace.org/>.
   - Participants will be encouraged to sign peace cards to Members of
Parliament calling on Canada to stand for peace, to avoid fuelling
the crisis with additional troops and munitions, and to extend diplomatic
resources for a negotiated political solution to the crisis.
   - We encourage you to *bring a song or poem* to share, and to bring
peace signs for us to photograph.
   - The *Facebook event page* can be accessed *here *
   <https://fb.me/e/1N8pTt7OS>for registration & sharing.

After the vigil, all are invited to meet for coffee/snack at Café 1842 at
the Huether Hotel located at 59 King St N.

For safety purposes, we ask that all participants observe existing regional
health guidelines, available here
<https://www.waterloo.ca/en/living/covid-19-response.aspx>. If anyone has
any questions, feel free to connect as needed. Otherwise, please help get
the word out by sharing with others in your network!

In peace & solidarity,

*Thomas W. Fraser*
