Hello KW peace!
I hope you are all well. I thought I'd share some things with you.
Five petitions you can sign - activism from home!:
1. We're ramping up the pressure to #CancelCANSEC, the big arms show. World Beyond War just launched an online petition - when someone signs, an email is automatically sent to Trudeau, Defence Minister Sajjan, Foreign Affairs Minister Champagne, Ottawa Mayor Watson, and CADSI: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/cancelcansec-north-americas-biggest-weapons-show/
2. Please sign on to the petition/campaign "Canada does not deserve a seat on the UN Security Council" - Ellen Gabriel, Judy Rebick, Bianca Mugyenyi, David Suzuki, Roger Waters, El Jones + 100 more people have already signed on. I have signed it and I hope you will as well. Please send your name to Nancy Brown to be added to the list: nancybrown54 at aim.com<mailto:nancybrown54 at aim.com> / This is the google doc with all the statement in English and French and the list of signatures: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gLuBVAl-guWrTmmYxrN3PX8VTreGQkm_VwWeP9NfsYQ/edit?usp=sharing
3. I am also urging you to sign on petition to the House of Commons based on the Radio-Canada investigation into Canada's coup in Haiti in 2004 via the "Ottawa Initiative" (like the Lima Group now against Venezuela): sign Petition e-2448 to the House of Commons web site here:

ZOOM MEETING: What can this crisis teach us about the other existential threats to life on the planet: nuclear weapons and climate change?
To join in a discussion of these issues, you are invited to a Back from the Brink Virtual Tour at 7pm on Sunday, March 29. This was originally going to be an in-person tour from Albany to Syracuse to Rochester and Buffalo from March 28th to March 30th. However, now with the COVID-19 crisis, we are taking the tour online. We are inviting everyone in our network to join.
On Sunday, March 29th at 7 PM, Back from the Brink campaign leader Dr. Ira Helfand will pose the question: "Will COVID save the World?" Dr. Helfand is a leader in the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) and the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, both Nobel Prize-winning organizations. During this unprecedented health crisis, Dr. Helfand believes that we are learning of the necessity of listening to the public health experts when they tell us we need to take drastic action to prevent disaster. Denial is not an option if we are to protect the millions of lives that could be affected by the virus. Nor is denial an option to prevent nuclear war or to mitigate the upheavals caused by climate change. This is a teachable moment for us all.
Here is how to join the Back From the Brink Virtual Tour on Sunday, March 29 at 7 PM:
Join the Zoom Meeting with your desktop, laptop, or other device by using this link: https://zoom.us/j/954502216
OR, join by dialing in as a regular phone call. Dial 1-929-205-6099. Enter Meeting ID: 954 502 216#.
To learn more about the Back From the Brink Campaign, click here. We also recommend listening to Dr. Ira Helfand's Ted Talk, "Can We Prevent Nuclear War?"
