Webinar: No to NATO, Yes to Peace! Building a Canadian Resistance to the Atlantic Alliance, hosted by the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace
When: Tuesday, April 21 at 3:30-5:00pm Eastern Time
Join the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) and the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) in a discussion about building a Canadian resistance to NATO. NATO is a male-dominated, nuclear-armed military alliance dominated by the U.S. that is demanding more money from member states for weapons systems, launching illegal interventions, and provoking dangerous conflicts around the world. Last year, for NATO's 70th anniversary, VOW held monthly pickets outside the NATO Association of Canada headquarters in downtown Toronto to raise opposition to the alliance and to demand that Canada get out of NATO. This year, as a result of the pandemic, we are organizing a series of virtual protests/webinars to build a national resistance against NATO and Canada's role in NATO. Tamara Lorincz of VOW and Philip Fernandez of CPCML will make opening remarks to start the virtual meeting that will be followed by a Q&A and an open discussion on building a national opposition to NATO in Canada.

Imagining the Green New Deal for Canada
Apr 23, 2020 07:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
More info: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_NP579OgBTBOHEkR1KQn4aA
Join the Council of Canadians and our Fredericton Chapter in imagining a Green New Deal. In this session we will look at a few bold proposals for real transformations in our response to COVID-19, and in our public services.
You'll hear from George Nickerson from Fredericton Local 054 of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers about their campaign called Delivering Community Power, which proposes to vastly reshape the services of Canada Post to include postal banking, clean energy generation, seniors’ care, and a made-in-Canada electric fleet of vehicles.
Green Jobs Oshawa organizer Rebecca Keetch will address the group's bold and urgent proposal to retool the mostly vacant GM factory in Oshawa, Ontario, so it can produce medical equipment immediately, and over the long term transition to manufacturing electric vehicles.
We need to start imagining how we can rebuild our post-pandemic society so that it works for everyone and the planet. We can start now by supporting these two exciting proposals and start to think about creating our own bold proposals in our communities.
