An ad hoc group of students and community members came together yesterday
to respond to the killings of unarmed protesters in Gaza. They are hoping
to hold continuing events.

The first event is planned for *tomorrow Fri afternoon at Waterloo Square.

*We are gathering to demand action by the Canadian government regarding the
recent killings by the Israeli military of nonviolent civilian protesters,
journalists, and first responders in Gaza.*

*We demand Canada, in line with Amnesty International’s call, impose an
immediate two-way arms embargo on Israel, and demand Canada pressure Israel
to end the brutal and illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip.*

*We will gather to chant and hear words by some speakers from the
community, and then march to MP Bardish Chagger’s office to present her
with our demands:*


   1.

   *Condemn the massacre of protesters by the Israeli military in Gaza;*
   2.

   *Speak and act in Parliament in favour of an immediate two-way arms
   embargo on Israel, and pressuring Israel to end the illegal blockade of
   Gaza;*
   3.

   *Speak and act in Parliament in favour of the right of return for the
   1.3 million Palestinian refugees currently living in Gaza (as stipulated in
   UN Resolution 194, UN General Assembly Resolution 3236, Article 12 of the
   International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and Article 13.2 of
   the Universal Declaration of Human Rights).*


It would be helpful if those who will be sending the above messages to
groups, churches, mosques and other institutions could let us know who they
are sending to, so that we do not overwhelm people with messages.
