Hello again peace friends!

I forgot to express my thanks in my list of upcoming events. I want to express my appreciation to Bob for running in the provincial election and your dedication to the issues (that is a tiring, intensive commitment), Dwyer and Sheila for writing that excellent letter to the editor to the Waterloo Record last month that I have copied below on Gaza (as Israel launches again brutal bombing on Gaza and the Canada Boat to Gaza is on its way), and to Laura for organizing space for the symposium for October 27th.

I'm afraid I likely can't attend the meeting this Thursday but want to encourage people to come to the World Beyond War conference in Toronto in September: https://worldbeyondwar.org/nowar2018/

*I'm also wondering if KW Peace would "co-sponsor" a screening of the film "A Bold Peace: Costa Rica's Path to Demilitarization" that I am hoping to screen at Conrad Grebel with Project Ploughshares this fall (likely early November) as this year is the 70th anniversary that Costa Rica abolished its army. The movie is a very powerful. It wouldn't cost KW Peace anything to "co-sponsor" just to add your "moral" support. Perhaps that could be an agenda item for this Thursday's meeting though I likely won't be there. More info about the film is here: http://aboldpeace.com/

Thanks,
Tamara

Israel's actions in Gaza deserves condemnation

Call for 'eradication' of Israelis has no place in civil society - June 13<https://www.therecord.com/opinion-story/8668318-d-amato-call-for-eradication-of-israelis-has-no-place-in-civil-society/>

Luisa D'Amato and the B'nai Brith's Aidan Fishman's condemned Shafiq Hudda's words calling for the eradication of Israel. I wish they would be as critical of the Israeli government's actions of eradicating the lives of the Palestinians.

Surely they know that 95 per cent of the water in Gaza is unfit for human consumption; that 97 per cent of the sea water is polluted; that Gazans get only four hours of electricity a day; that 50 per cent of essential medicines are unavailable; that most patients in need of urgent medical care are barred from travelling out of Gaza; that 70 per cent of the Gazan population are refugees and half are children.

They know that since the Great March of Return, Israel has killed more than 120 unarmed Palestinians and injured more than 14,000 in what Amnesty International has called a "murderous assault."

The policies of the Israeli government are working on the "eradication" of Palestinian life in the West Bank as well as Gaza. This is done through stealing of land and water, home demolitions, construction of barrier walls and of illegal settlements for Jews only. This makes life most difficult for Palestinians.

The eradication of any peoples in any part of the world needs to be condemned and reversed.
