Hello everyone!

I am going to try to come to the meeting tomorrow but again I can't get there until closer to 6:30 pm because my late class and getting my kids organized.

I do have a few things to share at our meeting that I can explain in a bit more detail if I may have a couple of minutes at the meeting:

1. The Ambassador of Costa Rica is coming to the Balsillie School of International Affairs and screening the film "A Bold Peace: Costa Rica's Path to Demilitarization" on March 1. It is being co-hosted with Project Ploughshares - I highly recommend. More details to come.

2. April is the Conscience Canada AGM and the Global Day of Action Against Military Spending usually on the third Monday, I hope we can do an action locally: http://www.ipb.org/global-campaign-on-military-spending/

3. The Pegasus: Peace, Global Health and Sustainability Conference will take place in Toronto in April 27-29: https://www.pegasusconference.ca/#about-1 - you can propose a topic.

4. World Beyond War is planning a big international peace conference in Toronto on September 21 and 22. You could offer to run a session at the conference. Would be great to have a good sized group from KW going. Details are being planned now: http://worldbeyondwar.org/nowar2018/

5. There is an absolutely excellent CBC Ideas program with Andrew Feinstein, author of "The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade" that I highly recommend you listen to and share: http://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas (He came to Waterloo and then to Vancouver last November. We gave him the info on the Canadian arms trade that he included in his on air speech!)

6. I am meeting with my MP Bardish Chagger on Feb. 21 to discuss Canada's new defence and foreign policy priorities, military spending, arm sales to Saudi Arabia, Canada not joining the new UN nuclear ban treaty etc... if you'd like to join me.

Finally, we should be concerned about Canada orchestrating a coup against the Maduro Venezuela government with the Lima Group, hosting talks on North Korea without the participation of NK, China and Russia, and placing more soldiers recently in the Ukraine, Latvia and Romania - http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/index.page

None of this is feminist foreign policy - very dangerous and provocative.

Hope to see you tomorrow.

In solidarity for peace, earth and justice,

Tamara Lorincz
