Hi Gehan: Yes, you added one line to the message, which contained all
the previous messages that other people had replied to in the past.
So, over time that adds up.
If you look at this message which I replied to from the mailing list
you can see your message to me, followed by my original message to the
list.
It's not a big problem -- like I wrote, I'm happy to increase the
message size limit, but we may have to purchase additional space.
Over the past year we've used up just over 1 GByte of our 2 GByte
quota. About 3/4 of that is for the kwpeace.ca website, most of the
rest is the mailing list.
The temptation to use a "free" mailing list with no limits like Google
or Yahoo is very seductive, but it means we lose the ability to manage
our own information; By managing the mailing list ourselves we're not
subject to the whims of others' Acceptable Use Policies, but then we
do have to do some mailing list management ourselves.
I imagine that some of the groups in KWPeace are likely to draw
unwanted attention. Groups that protest government policy, or which
are critical of law enforcement practices, and other social justice
issues. We've seen this kind of speech suppressed in Canada --
remember the KW Field Naturalists. Managing our own information goes
some way to keeping our autonomy.
