Hello KWPeace,

For those of you who were at our October you might remember me as the new
guy in the room. I had just begin a Voluntary Service stint with the
Friends meeting here in Kitchener doing education and organizing work on
the connections between environmental scarcity, climate change, and
peacebuilding. I was calling this initiative "PeaceHUB" and since our
meeting have connected with the Centre for Peace Advancement up at Conrad
Grebel to be part of their peace incubator program.

Through this new connection I am planning to show the documentary film *The
Age of Consequences *(see trailer here <https://vimeo.com/189104269> and
research more about the film on their website
<http://theageofconsequences.com/>) at Grebel's Great Hall on Tuesday,
March 21st, 2017. The film is named after a U.S. military report from over
a decade ago that names climate change as the number one threat to global
security in the 21st century. I am currently in contact with the film's
distributors to show the film here in Waterloo and am excited to be able to
host this very important conversation here in our community.

I talked about this film and my plans to premiere it here in KW at our
October meeting. At that meeting some of you expressed interest in maybe
partnering with me in promoting the event. I would be happy to talk with
you about this further - please contact me by email at: mattawa at gmail.com
if you or your group is interested in partnering with me to show the film.
I'd be happy to meet with you and plan!

On a related note, as part of PeaceHUB work, I have developed an *educational
game* that explores and makes accessible the complex relationship between
environmental limits, climate change and various conflicts within and
between societies. I facilitated the game for the first time at a potluck
last spring and it was received very well. I am hoping to bring the game to
different settings in our community - classrooms, community and faith
groups etc - in the winter to raise awareness, promote the March 21st film,
and encourage dialogue and learning on these issues.

If any of you know groups who would be open and interested in having me
come in and lead them in this game let me know!

Thanks everyone,

Isaiah
