Alright I'm going to take the lack of comments to mean everyone is ok with it! So lets make it official, 4-8:30.

Can people please send an image file of their logo to Matt so he can put it on the poster? If you dont have his email forward to me. Thanks :)

Hi All,

Ok, I think Laura has some good points about why we should have it from 4-8:30; I'm fine with that option. If anyone else has opinions, please speak them today, as we need to nail down the time and start getting the word out!

I feel very comfortable with the timings Laura has suggested, for the reasons she has outlined. I think it’s more practical to hold this starting at 4 p.m. when we have the whole space dedicated to this purpose.

I will book the cafe, but I am not sure about the timing, I think Saturday afternoons are a precious commodity (as are Saturday evenings) - if you move it to an earlier start - we are asking folks to give us up both. It could also be complicated if we are asking folk to register for an event - and 80 people show up at 3pm - the cafe's regular guest may well feel put out - in fact the cafe may not even go for it.

I feel we owe it to Simon to fill the room - and I don't think we an do that if the cafe is open. What about :

4pm - intro, and speed dating

5pm - small groups discussions (themed as discussed)

6pm - dinner and further discussion

7pm - simon

8pm next steps discussion and wrap up

The event isn't as long, but we accomplish what we intended - we could also switch simon and dinner - or have them together -

I am definitely not trying to be contrary, but I am a bit concerned about some of the challenges of starting while the cafe is open.

Either way - I will book it now, thanks,

laura

Hi All,

So last night at the Nonviolence Festival Meeting Bob, Roger, Matt, and I discussed some possible options. We agree that the Commons is our best option for space at this time, so Laura if you could please book the cafe for the evening.

Which of these options would people prefer?

Running 2-7 with a snack instead of a meal
Running 2-7:30 with a meal
Running 3-8:30/9ish with a meal?

We thought maybe people would be less likely to want to stay late on a Saturday evening, hence why we suggested moving it earlier. The cafe would still be open at the beginning if we start before 4:00 but there would likely be room for us to still gather and start our event in the back.

Let me know your thoughts!

The Cafe is available on October 1st. The cost is $35 per hour -
4pm until 9 is five hours - so $175. If we serve dinner we make
it pay what you can, all are welcome, with a suggested amount of
$10. If we have 40 people pay we will recover our costs for the
venue and ingredients. Should I check with Simon to see if he is
available for an evening event?

Alright, at this point, should we consider an alternate date? I
know we wanted to do the 1st because of the international day of
nonviolence but if the Common's isn't available then I'm not sure
what our remaining options are... It's better to have the event
than not at all!

Laura let us know when you hear back about the cafe.

The Pavilion at Victoria Park sounds like a great possibility
to explore. Is someone able to look into that at the start of
this week?
