There's a truism in project management: "Everything takes longer and
costs more."

It makes Project Managers cringe and feel uncomfortable, but it's true
more often than not. It was especially true for getting the KWPeace
mailing lists and Web site set up.

At the meeting of KW peace groups on 29 October I had offered to set up
a mailing list for the organizers of the various peace groups in
Kitchener-Waterloo, as well as make available a comprehensive calendar
of peace and social justice activities in the region. Dwyer kindly
offered to fund this, and my experience with CCj/Clearline was that this
could be set up overnight.

Unfortunately, the domain name kwpeace.org was taken, and my request
wasn't as clear and straightforward as it should have been. But
finally all the details have been worked out, and we now have two
mailing list: this one for organizers of peace groups in KW:

  http://kwpeace.ca/mailman/listinfo/groups_kwpeace.ca

and one for the general public to discuss peace and social justice
issues, and for announcements of upcoming events in the KW area:

  http://kwpeace.ca/mailman/listinfo/discuss_kwpeace.ca

I took the liberty of taking all the e-mail addresses on Emily
Mininger's message and adding them to this "Groups" mailing list. That
was a little presumptuous of me, so please let me know if you want to
be removed.

I *didn't* add anyone to the discussion list -- please let me know if
I should do that too. You can either subscribe yourself with the link
above, or I can do it for you.

The website is now at http://kwpeace.ca/ It has a calendar
http://kwpeace.ca/calendar/ and I'll provide instructions on how to
add your event information ASAP. I've also started a listing of the
different peace organizations at http://kwpeace.ca/about/

If you'd like to contribute to the blog you can sign up at
http://kwpeace.ca/wp-login.php?action=register I'll be happy to give
a quick tour of the site at our meeting next Thursday, 26 November.

Sorry for the delay in getting this ready, and let me know if you have
any questions.
